    SEEK profile photos

SEEK lets candidates add a profile photo to their SEEK Profile. We could not find a published size or file limit, so this preset makes a safe file: the long edge at 800 px and the size under 2 MB, as a JPEG, which suits any profile system. Whether to add a photo at all is your choice; in Australia many recruiters prefer to judge applications without photos, and SEEK profiles do not require one.

    A good profile photo

For framing tips and exact square exports, the SEEK and Indeed profile photo tool in the photo maker gives guidance on head size and position; this preset just gets the file to a sensible size.

    Résumés and documents

SEEK accepts résumés and cover letters as documents. If you attach a scanned certificate, keep it legible: compress with a 2 MB target or make a PDF.

    Privacy

Phone photos can include your location in their EXIF data. Compressing here writes a new JPEG without it, but if you upload an original elsewhere, strip the EXIF first.

Uploading to SEEK, step by step

    1. Sign in to SEEK and open your SEEK Profile.
    2. Choose to add or change the profile photo.
    3. Upload the compressed JPEG and adjust the crop if SEEK offers it.
    4. Check how it looks on your profile on a phone and a desktop.

    Checklist before you upload

    If SEEK rejects the file

The limits used by this preset are the commonly quoted ones and are flagged for checking in the sources below; if SEEK states a different figure on its upload screen, change the target above the button to match.

    Should you add a photo?

A profile photo is optional on SEEK. Some recruiters like to put a face to a name; others prefer to assess applications without photos to reduce bias, and Australian anti-discrimination law means employers should not be selecting on appearance. If you add one, keep it professional and current. If you are unsure, leave it off: a strong résumé matters far more.

    Résumé photos

In Australia, résumés usually do not include photos. If you are applying for a role where one is expected, the CV photo tool gives a portrait crop with framing tips.

    File type and size

JPEG is the safest format for any profile upload. At 800 px a well-lit head-and-shoulders photo is usually 100–250 KB, far below any limit, so quality stays high.

    Private by design

The image never leaves your device. It is decoded in your browser, processed in a background worker by open-source codecs compiled to WebAssembly (MozJPEG, libwebp, libavif and OxiPNG, via the jsquash project, plus pica for resizing) and handed back as a download. There is no upload, no account and no server copy to delete. You can confirm it in your browser's developer tools: the Network tab shows the page's own files and the codec files loading, and nothing carrying your image. After the first visit the tools work offline.
