The Western Australian Working With Children Check card carries a passport-standard photo. Applications have traditionally been lodged in person at Australia Post, where the outlet photographs you, and the WWC Screening Unit's online pathway takes a passport-standard digital photo instead. The standard is the Australian passport one: 35×45 mm proportions, head 32–36 mm, plain light background, neutral expression, taken in the last six months.

- The WA WWC pages returned 404 at the known URLs. WWC applications in WA have historically been lodged at Australia Post outlets that take the photo, with an online application pathway that takes a passport-standard photo. Whether an applicant-supplied photo is accepted for your pathway must be confirmed on the WWC site before buying; the standard applied is the Australian passport one.
- Confirm whether your WWC application pathway accepts an uploaded photo.
Can I take it myself? Yes, with conditions
Only where your lodgement pathway takes an uploaded photo. If you lodge at an Australia Post outlet the outlet takes the photo and you need nothing. Because the WWC site could not be re-checked, this document is flagged unverified: confirm on the WWC website that your application form accepts an uploaded photo before buying. Where it does, the passport standard applies and this preset produces it, with background editing kept off.
How to take the photo
- Check the WWC application form or confirmation email: if it says the photo will be taken at Australia Post, stop here.
- If a photo upload is required, stand half a metre in front of a plain white or light-grey wall and face a window for even light.
- Someone else takes the photo from 1.5 metres at eye level with shoulders in frame and space above the head.
- Neutral expression, mouth closed, eyes open, hair off the face. Glasses only without glare; no hats except religious coverings showing the whole face.
- Export with the upload preset, or print one copy from our sheet if the outlet asks for a print.
Why WWC Check WA photos get rejected
- Photo supplied where the outlet takes it. Not needed; Australia Post photographs you.
- Head outside 32–36 mm. Adjust head size; the checker reports it.
- Shadow or uneven background. Light from the front, step away from the wall.
- Photo altered. No editing; retake.
- Glasses with glare. Remove them.
- Photo older than six months. Take a fresh one.
Infants and children
Not applicable. WWC applicants are adults and young people over the minimum working age; the infant mode is disabled for this document.
What it costs
The WWC application fee includes the photo taken at Australia Post. Where an upload is needed, our Single licence is A$6.99 for 30 days; the free checker is usually enough to confirm a photo you already have.
