Camera tips before you shoot
  • Someone else holds the phone about 1.5 m away at your head height. No selfies at arm's length.
  • Daylight from a window in front of you; no flash, no overhead-only light.
  • Plain light wall, half a metre behind you, no shadow on it.
  • Shoulders in frame, space above the head; the tool crops.
  • Use the original file, not a screenshot or a messaging-app copy.

Official source WA Department of Communities – Working With Children Check

Check the official source. Some values on this page could not be confirmed from the official page when it was last checked (2026-10-28).

      • The WA WWC pages returned 404 at the known URLs. WWC applications in WA have historically been lodged at Australia Post outlets that take the photo, with an online application pathway that takes a passport-standard photo. Whether an applicant-supplied photo is accepted for your pathway must be confirmed on the WWC site before buying; the standard applied is the Australian passport one.
      • Confirm whether your WWC application pathway accepts an uploaded photo.

Can I take it myself? Yes, with conditions

Only where your lodgement pathway takes an uploaded photo. If you lodge at an Australia Post outlet the outlet takes the photo and you need nothing. Because the WWC site could not be re-checked, this document is flagged unverified: confirm on the WWC website that your application form accepts an uploaded photo before buying. Where it does, the passport standard applies and this preset produces it, with background editing kept off.

Why WWC Check WA photos get rejected

      1. Photo supplied where the outlet takes it. Not needed; Australia Post photographs you.
      2. Head outside 32–36 mm. Adjust head size; the checker reports it.
      3. Shadow or uneven background. Light from the front, step away from the wall.
      4. Photo altered. No editing; retake.
      5. Glasses with glare. Remove them.

      WWC Check WA photo FAQ

Who takes the WWC Check photo?

Usually the Australia Post outlet where you lodge. Some online pathways take an uploaded passport-standard photo instead; check your form.

What standard does the photo follow?

The Australian passport standard: 35×45 mm proportions, head 32–36 mm, plain light background, neutral expression, under six months old.

Can I use my passport photo?

If it is under six months old and your pathway takes an upload, yes.

      Can I edit the background?

No; the passport standard prohibits it.

      Are glasses allowed?

Only without glare and with the eyes clearly visible.

Why is this page flagged unverified?

The WWC website could not be re-checked when this page was built. Confirm your pathway's photo rule before buying.
