Keypass ID photo

Keypass ID is Australia Post's proof-of-age and identity card, accepted by many venues in place of a licence. The application method has changed over time. Older applications took printed passport photos at the post office, while newer ones are digital. We could not confirm the current method, so this page sets out what to check and points you to Australia Post rather than offering a preset.

How it works

  1. Check Australia Post's Keypass page for the current application method.
  2. Prepare your identity documents; Keypass requires 100 points of ID.
  3. Follow the photo instruction given: an in-store photo, or a photo or selfie captured in the application.
  4. Pay the fee and collect or receive your card.

Why this site has no tool for it

This site only makes photos for documents that accept a photo you supply. Here the photo is taken at the counter, so a file or print you bring is not used, and selling one would be misleading. For documents that do take your own photo, such as passports, many visas and some working with children checks, use the ID photo hub or the photo maker.

Frequently asked questions

Is Keypass accepted as proof of age?

Keypass is widely accepted as proof of age in Australia, but venues and agencies set their own rules; check before relying on it.

Do I need a passport photo for Keypass?

That depends on the current application method, which we could not confirm. Follow Australia Post's instructions.

What is the alternative?

Each state issues a government photo card for people who do not drive. See your state's licence and photo card page.

Can this site make a Keypass photo?

If Australia Post asks for passport-standard photos, the Australian passport page produces them. Otherwise nothing needs making.
